Godzilla Vs. the Sea Monster (DVD, 2005)
    Sep 13, 2022
    Imaginative, colorful and fun...
Two ordinary guys go out to a dance contest one night and somehow end up on an adventure in the south seas involving Godzilla, Mothra, a giant sea monster and terrorists called "The Red Bamboo." Ultimately, all the fun craziness that happens in this movie is known to only a handful of people. Therefore, this is an epic yet intimate story. Who knows; maybe someday YOU may find yourself on such an adventure.
Arthur/Arthur 2: On The Rocks [DVD] [DBFE]

One great comedy! And a sequel that takes itself too seriously...
Arthur (1981) is both classic and classy. It's one of the all-time great comedies with some of the funniest moments ever put to film. The story is simple but effective, punched up by sharp, witty dialog. It's got so many laugh-out-loud scenes that its re-watchability is very high. I never get tired of Arthur. The sequel, Arthur 2: On the Rocks, has a few really good one-liners, some genuine laughs here and there and even a couple touching moments. But, overall, the film feels awkward. While watching an adult man-child stumble and bumble his way through day-to-day life was endearing in the first movie, it feels sad and pathetic here. What's worse, that seems to be the movie's intention. The story is about Arthur learning how to be a responsible adult and the filmmakers take this task very seriously... Far TOO seriously for a COMEDY. The result can be downright cringy at times.
