Fun Sophomore Slump
This comic is about what I expected from a sequel to the first Pet Avengers collection. The first made use of a great concept to bring together a fun cast of characters. Each character was developed with a unique voice to follow through on a resourceful plot. For this second volume, however, one can imagine the scenario when the writer was encouraged to follow up on their previous success, only to conceive a lackluster story. The voices for most of the characters were still intact (although half of them could have been written out and wouldn’t have been missed).
Overall, the fans (and story characters) would have been better served if the publisher had waited until a better story had come along before publishing a sequel to the initial and very underrated first Pet Avengers volume.
