Inoffensive, charming but a little pedestrian.
Peter Sallis is much like this book: Inoffensive. It isn't a roller coaster ride by any means, but then who expected it to be? What is amazing is the number of amazing actors and actresses he has worked with in the past on the stage, which he covers here. If anything I would say he seems such a nice chap that it makes for a slightly pedestrian read; in this age of red top newspapers its charming but unexciting to read a book in which someone doesn't have a bad word to say!
Its a good autobiography in that it gives you a little insight into his life, and what a lovely chap he is, but don't go expecting thrills and spills. To be fair if you buy this book thinking thats what you are going to get then you probably don't know who he is!
