Great to have the Revell DC-8 again.

I built this back in the late 1970's and finally bought this one so I could build it and add it to my model shelves. I purchased the Minicraft CFM-56 engines so i'm going to build this a short body DC-8 with the turbofans. I'll call it a DC-8-75.

Great model.

I had this model 15 years ago and when we moved it was damaged beyond repair. I finally realized that I would enjoy building a new one. Found this one and purchased it. The model arrived in two days.

Yak-40 model kit.

Model airplanes are not durable, they are plastic models. With that said, the model represents the prototype. I built it to be a standard production version with my modification of the outboard engines having thrust reversers. The center engine does not have one molded for it. So I left it without one. The horizontal stabilizer bullet extension was deleted so I cut it off to match the production version. The decals were unusable so I will have to order replacements. It is not a great kit but you have to remember it is over 40 years old. It's too bad VEB Plasticart models are hard to find. I enjoyed the build.
