Great recording, superb sound engineering and brilliant interpretation.
Well, if you enjoy the music of Jean Sibelius, this album is an impressive reading of
his 3rd symphony, surely among his bests [if not as popular as #2 or #5] and marking a
striking new moment in his symphonic composition. The Gothenburg Symphony
Orchestra is outstanding and the conductor [Santu-Matuas Rouvali] ssbrilliant and
original. The sound of the Alpha-Classics recording is A+++. Not all will agree with
the dynamics or contrasts in the interpretation but that only proves that Sibelius cannot be captured by one performance. I compared this recording with at least 5 others I have
(Davis, Barbirolli, Berglund, Ashkenazy, Makela) and I think this new recording, though
obviously different -as are all---is really good. I am a Davis/Barbirolli but Rouvali
has joined that trio of mine as a fine choice. Bravo.

GLORIOUS MUSIC...
Was at Cambridge in 70's studying and had so many fond memories of Evensong and liturgies at King's. Superb choir. Best music. Fine recording. JH
