One battery won't take a charge

For several weeks both batteries charged and provided ample power for several hours. At the time I thought it was a good deal. This weekend one of the batteries would not take a charge. I removed the 4 screws and separated the red and black covers. Inside I found a very thin black wire that had broken in half. I don't know how this happened, I was always careful with the battery, never dropped it or abused it. The wire is so fine it's like a strand of human hair. I can't fix it myself so I;m taking it to Batteries Plus to see if they can repair it.
