No frills, just great hi hats.
The Top hat is a light weight hat, completely lathed on top and bottom with a traditional finish. Nice warm woody stick tone and has a low pitch for a 14" cymbal. Also, with a nice subdued bell.
The Bottom hat is pretty close in weight, but just slightly heavier. It is completely unlathed on both top and bottom. This gives it a low dark tone that is very controlled.
Foot chick has a very pleasing low chick sound.
I think being played open, is where this shines the most, because it is warm dark and trashy, with a nice bite, yet is always controllable.
Keeping this as another option besides my 14" Sand Hats, for when I prefer more slosh in the hats, with a less aggressive attack.

Best Upgrade for around $20
It's not too often that hi hats must be taken off of a stand, but when you do, it's now so much quicker and easier, FINALLY!
the tension adjustment is also very easy and sturdy. rather than fidgeting with the adjustment screw AND a lock screw, there is only one, and it is perfect.

Quality you can hear
Handmade, quality, that makes a difference in your sound. Very sensitive, yet has a character that allows your drums tone to really come through and speak on its own.
The non coated will "dry" out the snare response a bit, meaning although it is responsive, they won't buzz in any annoying or abrasive frequencies. They speak and get out of the way, and are intricate for ghost notes and buzz rolls.
If you want a brighter attack/snap try the coated version. The non-coated have a darker character.
