Decent Overview of Inidan Wars Uniforms & Gear
Another volume from the Osprey "Men-At-Arms" Series. As is typical of these volumes, the prose, drawings and photographs give a nice, straightforward overview of the Soldiers, Scouts and Native Americans that campaigned in what is commonly referred to as the "Indian Wars." This slender volume provides a good overview of the military activities and would be useful to anyone seeking a summary of the military activities of the US Army from 1860 to 1890 as well as limited information about the gear and uniforms used by the US troops. This work also has a little bit of information pertaining to Canadian troops and some coverage related to the Native warriors and people. This isn't the definitive work on this topic but add this volume to your collection if the price is relatively inexpensive. Reenactors, toy soldier painters and artists will find this volume useful.
Once in a Great City: A Detroit Story Maraniss, David
    Feb 07, 2017
    Not Just a Motown Review
One need not harbor just an interest in Detroit to find this a compelling read. Maraniss covers much ground here related to civil rights, music, changing industrial work patterns as well as practicle sociology. This book has a good page-turning quality that covers a vital slice of life in Detroit and America in the early 1960's that pre-figures riots and abrupt change in the mid to late 1960's and 1970's. For that matter, read this book for insights on challenges and problems left unaddressed and that lead directly to the election of Donald J. Trump in 2016. Nicely crafted with a journalists attention to detail and a biographer's ability to tell a story, Once in a Great City, A Detroit Story is a welcome change from the typical conventional wisdom circulating among pundits, academics and talking heads on tee vee regarding what went wrong with America. Read this book if you want clues on what to do to make America genuinely good.
Chef's Choice Trizor XV Edge Sharpener - Model 15 EdgeSelect, 15" Angle

    Dull to Sharp Pronto
Tired of dull knives? Get one of these and you'll start enjoying slicing, carving and cutting instead of smashing, whacking and hacking. The plastic housing that covers the rotary wheels is a little bit light and over time the use of device to sharpen knives will result in some wear to bottom of slot where knives are pulled through in order to sharpen. That noted, this is a good tool and if a little care is given when pulling knives through in order to sharpen, the plastic housing will last a long time. Yields sharp knives, be they large chef knives and other kitchen knives. Doesn't work on certain knives like Japanese style blades or serrated knives. This sharpening device works fine for most folding knives and hunting knives.
