Hurray for this little Sony HD camcorder
2 of 2 found this helpful This HDR-CX360V Sony High Def camcorder records on removable HDSC chips up thru 64GB even to 128GB plus records on its internal 32GB memory. That is so many hours! Then downloading the recordings to a computer is easy with their PMB software that is built into the camcorder. You can even download to a plain hard drive. There is included in the design even a little USB2 cable for downloading about 2 inches long that tucks away in the hand strap.
On the down side tho, changing from external mic to ambient mic and vice versa requires stopping recording and going to standby mode, which also changes the counter to zero and begins a new file. Also regrettable is no manual adjustment of recording volume.

Turning one audio channel into two
Good video productions require good audio. A microphone near the lips provides the professional audio quality that an ambient camcorder mic typically does not. Many professional microphones, particularly the little lav mics that I often connect to podium mics with a couple little rubber bands, have XLR output connectors. But my camcorder requires a 3.5mm male mini plug. Typical XLR-mini adapter cables result in my camcorder receiving only one audio channel to record but this Hosa cable puts the single audio track on both stereo channels.
