Not a quick fix for the slide dilletante
I thought a less than full slide would help the ability to fret more freely than dedicating an entire finger to operating the slide, but while I'm still at the shallow end of the learning curve, my initial impression is that it more inhibits than helps fretting, and it doesn't generate the tone that giving the full ring finger or pinky to a heftier slide would. Maybe it will become useful with some (meaning "a lot more") practice, but I'm afraid it's more of a cop-out compromise and less a helpful tool. (Full disclosure: I had a glass slide some 50 years ago, but seem to have lost it, and have never considered myself to be competent slide player with one on any finger. I was hoping to be able to better approximate what Lowell George did on Tripe Face Boogie, but I haven't gotten close yet, and somehow, continuing to play that tune without slide seems almost sacrilegious.)

Just what I was looking for at an extremely competitive price.
Because of the nature of the product, it's a matter of trusting that it will work if/when necessary rather than one about which I can say with experience that it works great. It seems to be working, and so long as the battery life approaches the 10-years claim, I'm a happy camper, because I'm sure any of you who have used shorter life battery smoke (and CO) detectors know how annoying the replace battery warning is. I consider it a plus that I was able to replace 2 short-battery life detectors at just over $25 each, an excellent value.
