Performance comparable to last gen product at better price
6 of 7 found this helpful My expectations were high as this is the first upgrade from the revered 970 PRO. The dirty secret in the first generation of PCIe 4 SSDs is that they don't really improve performance beyond the PCIe 3 technology except for some esoteric benchmark stats (7GB read?) that will not be seen in real-world use.
In the case of this product, the change to cheaper flash technology brings cost benefits - the 980 Pro is available cheaper than the older 970 Pro (at 1TB size at least). Kudos to Samsung to providing comparable performance to MLC flash at a lower price point.
