sc10 converter

Dear Sirs, I have bought two of your sc10 converters and have been very pleased with each.(using one on a 5hp, the other, a 7 1/2 hp.). I notice that when putting power to the converter ,I hear a relay click . Should I only put power to the converter when using the equipment or does it not really matter?
