Solar Power Car Window Fan Auto Ventilator Cooler Air Vent Vehicle Ventilation U
    Jun 20, 2018
So poorly made it finds new ways to break
So my wife's AC went out in her car, while I was saving the money to buy a new AC compressor I got creative with cooling solutions. A couple computer fans, a portable swamp cooler, some dryer duct, some wire splicing and soldering, and a bunch of duct tape later I made a cooler that blows cold air directly at the driver and makes it tolerable after driving a little while. So I ordered this thing with the idea that maybe if the car stayed cooler while it was parked my homemade AC wouldn't have so far to catch up when you got in. It arrived fairly quick, no complaints there. So following the instructions I put the trim guard/ adhesive strip on the window (rear passenger of her SUV), I'll be honest I had malice in my heart and planned to leave it in place while driving. It turns out her tint on the rear windows is too dark for the solar panel to work (so keep in mind above 22-25% tint you're throwing money away, under 22% you're still throwing money away but we'll get there). So I reconfigured everything and moved it to the front passenger window. The tint still slowed the fan noticeably but at least it worked. So happy with my achievement I shut the door. I wasn't angry, I wasn't trying to prove a point, I wasn't putting a proverbial exclamation point in a conversation. I didn't slam the door, I closed it. This thing immediately snapped in 2 and fell into the passenger seat. Well, you know what they say about getting what you pay for, I paid like $13 and got free shipping..... I still overpaid. So with necessity being the mother of invention, I had a need and a work bench in the garage. Now the material this is constructed of is to ABS plastic as me with $2.17 in my bank account is to Bill Gates. On the Charpy impact test it didn't even get points for writing it's name on the front. It's Poisson's ratio is negative, it has a mass density that makes helium balloons feel heavy. So I took it to the work bench. First I attempted to drill guide holes through the plastic body to screw in reinforcements. That plan was foiled as my 1mm drill bit created enough heat (going through the 3 mm body of this thing) that it started to melt and deform. I moved on to the Arts & Crafts section of the day. Out came the "low temp" glue gun (obviously the high temp one would bore through the plastic body like a plasma torch through butter). I found some small steel plates on a shelf. I figured a liberal application of super glue underneath and a heavy bead of hot glue around the sides would attach the mounting arms back to the body of the fan and solar cell. With fingers crossed, baited breath, and a prayer to saint Edison (the patron saint of unreimbursed inventors) I applied a heavy pool of super glue to the arms and steel plates. I feared that within a few seconds I would have super glue flowing through my hands as the cyanoacrylates returned this cheap plastic back to the liquid state it so desperately wishes to achieve. But to my surprise one side held together. I had put supporting plates on the interior of each arm. I knew I was tempting fate repeating the process on the exterior of the arms. I did it anyway, and sure enough it held. Now the 2 little arms that go over the glass and hold the outside of the window were secured by 2mm of steel on each side. In my mind I had just created the Terminator of solar powered micro air circulation fans. I took some adhesive backed weather stripping I had, cut it to length and put it on each side where the arms and body touched the glass to prevent vibration and impact shock, after all this is made from plastic that makes Low Density Polyethylene used in Walmart bags look like structural steel. Finally I was ready to mount it. At this point there are 4 x 1mm steel supports on the arms that are superglued and have a bead of hot glue that looks like it was laid by a post TBI heavy handed welder. There is shock absorbent foam hot glued anywhere it will contact the glass. It's ugly, but it's bulky. I lower the passenger side window, place this solar powered fan, and wait to ensure it starts to spin up. A soft whir eminates from it and I know we are in business. I roll the window up to just the right height to hold it snugly in place. Then I close the door. I wasn't going for impact testing, I give just enough force to ensure the door sensors know the door is closed. I stand in marvel at my engineering, those 2 steel reinforced arms are firmly in place. Of course they are only connected by a thin piece of plastic, because when I shut the door the entire top of the device snapped like a twig under the foot of a titan. So, ya, solid 1/7 wouldn't recommend. Like a cheap hooker you are out a couple dollars and have a mess all over your passenger seat. Save money and buy a foil window reflector.
Dual Monitor VGA ATI Radeon HD3450 256MB DDR2 Graphics Video Card-PCI-Express

Everything you should expect for $12
So I bought this for an older ast180 I'm building with my daughter as a project. I was looking for a cheap but functional video card. It checked all the boxes, arrived surprisingly fast, boosted video and image loading, doesn't support 3d graphics (but it was 12 bucks). The only actual negative I'd point out is that despite having the vga splitter it doesn't support a dual monitor output, it'll run 2 but only as a mirror image, no screen extension. Overall though it was everything I expected for what it costs.
USB 2 Fan Cooler Air Cooling Pad Foldable Stand for 12" to 15" Laptop Notebook

    Great product, in certain circumstances.
So I ordered this for my laptop that I use mainly at home. It sits on my desk connected to an external monitor, external hard drives, etc. If I put any papers or anything on the built in keyboard the fans ramp up constantly. Since I basically use that laptop as a desktop I needed a better cooling solution. I ordered this and was pleased with the LED lights and fan operation. I actually ended up putting it under my PS4 that gets hot in the entertainment center. It works awesome for that and I intend to order another for my laptop. I would say that's the only application it's suited for. The arm to support your laptop at an angle swings loosely and would become annoying quickly if you planned to use it on your lap. Also the body of the unit will hit the fans if it is moved around it force is applied like typing on the keyboard. I would strongly recommend it for a laptop that stays on the desk if you have an external keyboard. Also great for video game consoles that have notoriously bad cooling solutions.
