Snark HZ-1 Hertz Clip On Tuner For Acoustic Electric & Bass Guitar
    Dec 15, 2017
    A nice upgraded snark
The new pivot head design is an improvement , we'll see if it last better than the older design. The HZ function definitely makes a more accurate tuning experience. It is a drag that the strings have to all be tuned in a set order when I really just want to tweak one string back into pitch at a gig. It slows things down and could be implemented better. But all in all this is a step up from the old snarks which are nice too

    The Falcon by John Tanner
    Dec 22, 2019
    Every American should read this
If you want to know first hand what life was like as a Native American at the point of contact, this is a compelling memoir. I don’t know of another similarly complete and direct autobiography of native life from this period that hasn’t been twisted around in translation and editing for contemporary consumption. Tanner’s direct stark plain telling didn’t sit easily with Americans in the active genocide period who dehumanized natives as savage. It also didn’t sit easily with Americans in the hippie era who dehumanize natives by pretending they are like wood elves at one with nature in balance & peace. It is harsh. It is stark. It is true. It is essential reading to know what was and appreciate what we have.
    DPA 4099 G Instrument Microphone - VO4099G
    May 16, 2016
the DPA 4099G is totally transparent sounding, its your instrument, just louder.
I use the DPA mic on my 1945 epi archtop and it is so accurate when positioned correctly that sometimes I have to mute the amp to check if the mic is on to make sure I'm not just hearing the guitar. Set up correctly, nothing sounds better. Its your instrument, only louder. The feel, the dynamics, everything. The gain before feedback level is good enough for a club gig if you are sane about it, I've used it in a folk group with a drum set and it had plenty of gain to spare, solos cut. You do have to be cautious, it is a live condenser mic, but it works as well as I could hope. Compared to an Audio Technica lavalier mic it probably has about double the level before feedback. If you have a lousy soundguy you are of course going to have trouble with any live mic'd instrument. If you expect it to be louder than a mag pickup or undersaddle without feedback through a floor monitor in a loud room of course you'll be disappointed, but if you go in from the perspective of mic'ing an instrument live & use reason you should be more than happy. And obviously it sounds infinitely better than a pickup... it sounds just like your instrument. On an archtop it wants to be mounted on the treble bout pointed just outside of the F hole, hanging from the bottom of the instrument above the floor, & it cling well but you have to be careful not to knock it off the guitar, unlike a roundhole instrument where it will sit on the top of the instrument with gravity helping keep it stay put in cause it is knocked free. It works great on my archtop live as long as I am mindful and reasonable when playing it standing. I've seen someone else using their "cello" mount on an archtop instead of the G mount , clipping it to the tailpiece, and that looks more stable but I haven't had one available to try it. The only other thing to look out for is that it really does prefer 48v phantom power. At 12v there is substantial hiss added to the signal. Its still quite useable live in that setting but it sounds better at 48v. I use a rolls phantom unit or the board depending & its utterly silent. The goose neck works really well, & gives the added bonus that I can quickly pivot the mic slightly towards or away from the F hole & it operates somewhat like a Tone knob, to tweak the sound on the fly. I highly recommend this mic. I gig with it a few times a week and love it.
