About
I create semi-abstract paintings of the human figure and nature in gouache. I am a very technical artist so I am most inspired by paint; how it handles and how it looks. I chose gouache because of it’s versatility and look. I love the smooth opaque color and I love trying to make it do things other people may not think of. It is one of the most underappreciated mediums in my opinion. I also love dark, atmospheric imagery. I really enjoy the play between light and shadow & watery washes and thick impasto brush strokes. I think viewers are most interested in my paint handling and the way I handle the fine line between representation and the abstract.
