Canon EOS Rebel XTi 400D
5 of 6 found this helpful The Canon EOS Rebel XTi 400D is an awesome Entry Level Digital SLR for those wanting to become serious in photography. Although it was released four years ago, it still stands its ground as a entry level DSLR.
The XTi body is comfortable to hold, although for bigger hands an addition of a battery may be needed. The 2.5 LCD is bright and is viewable in bright sunny days. Additionally, reviewing photos is pleasant on the XTi's LCD. Buttons on the body have been well placed, which allows an individual to quickly adjust exposure (shutter and aperture), ISO, White Balance, exposure metering, and focus points. This is important in for DSLR because it allows the photographer to capture images quickly without having to move through menus to get the right settings.
The photos taken by the Rebel XTi are high quality, of course this is expected of from a DSLR. The XTi has a minimum ISO of 100 and a maximum ISO of 1600, although it can go lower and higher with a customized firmware. The Rebel XTi has many customizable settings for taking photos. A photographer can set a preferred type of shooting setting under any of three user define options the XTi provides. Sharpness, Colortone, Saturation, and Contrast are options in the custom settings.
One big drawback to the XTi is that it does not have a live view feature. This maybe a turnoff for individuals moving from point and shoot cameras. Although, one can learn to shoot from the viewfinder.
