Nice Reel
I've paid more for reels of lower quality. Smooth retrieve, drag seems to work fine, but hasn't been tested by a grand-daddy redfish, but will soon.

Fine Rod
6 of 9 found this helpful This is the actual rod I used in slaying the evil monster of the deep as reviewed by your faithful reviewer under the product: Shimano Calcutta 400B reel. I hooked up the monster at about 5:08 that evening as the sun began to sink a bit lower. Yes, this was the rod, throughout the entire night. Not a flaw - a fine piece of equipment in the hands of any real fisherman. The seas were calm as we dueled. The stars lighted the shimmering waves as we battle on. When 3:00am rolled around, my rod was still bent into a quick arc. Only from the beauty of the fine rod was I able to build the inspiration to will the stamina to battle on. The Okiaya Mack Daddy Rod seemed not to just reflect the moon, but to add it's own internal luminesces to it. Finally, at first light, he was done. That is one notch on the Mack Daddy. The fisherman lives on to catch another deep sea monster using nothing but the finest .... ebay equipment! When he does, you'll be sure to hear about it here in the reviews! Get yourself one - I'll be surprised if you aren't well pleased with it. Great price, durable, beautiful....lots of backbone, if you're up for it. Keep your bow into the wind, and your line tight, eh?

Solid Reel
5 of 6 found this helpful I caught a 300# halibut with it. Fought like Sonny Listen. Not a flaw. Drag was perfect, setting the stage for a battle. On and on it went. Day passes into night and still the combatants forged on. Finally, in the rising sun, there he was, gaffed, but with hatred gleaming in salty, evil eyes. Then, I hit him in the head with a baseball bat - end of problem and delicious! Nice reel, too. I own three of them. Yeah, I'm a fan.
