Snack World Treasures Gold- a mix of Fantasy Life and Yokai Watch
This is a very enjoyable and entertaining game for me but that is just my opinion so I have decided to just breakdown the game for others so that you can get an idea how it plays. Below is a summary of the game and its gameplay.
SWTG for Switch is an updated and enhanced port of the 3DS game. In field Gameplay is very similar to Fantasy life, but without the different jobs mechanic. However, you can collect different monsters/characters to fight alongside or assist you on your quests. You don’t just capture the monsters buy using some device upon defeating them the first time. Rather you have to defeat a certain number of that specific monster/character before you are given the chance to “catch and obtain” them. Fighting in the game is similar to Fantasy Life in that it is an action rpg where you level up and you roam around the different areas with companions during different quests. When battling you use jara(weapons and items) on your special key chain to attack/defend or enhance yourself. Each weapon has a durability bar that lets you know how much you can use it before it “breaks” and is temporarily made slow and less effective. However, that durability bar does charge overtime and weapons that “broke” can fully return to normal after a bit of recharge time. In addition to this, your weapons can be upgraded but require certain parts that you must obtain through creatures and quests.
Also in SWTG you have a main town hub where you always start in. In the town you collect quest requests, shop for items and weapons, buy armor/apparel and their “recipes” to make them, use “raffle tickets” to try to get items or special weapons currently in the drawing, and more.
Overall the game has an interesting and funny storyline with play on words involving snacks and fairytale characters while giving you a fun and somewhat familiar gameplay style.(This is a Level 5 game, the same company who made Fantasy Life and Yokai Watch.). In addition to single player you can play multiplayer locally and wirelessly where you can embark on missions together. You can also send gifts/items to others. Lastly, only as an option and not as requirement to obtain everything, you can use special NFC enabled toys/Jara to obtain items and weapons earlier and sometimes more easily.
The game currently does not have a release date in the West and would need to be translated, but it has had an episode of its animate show dubbed in English already and there are reports of it eventually coming over to the west. However we just do not know how long it will be before the West gets this game released for the Switch.
