Low cost off-brand product
I was under the impression that this was actually a Whirlpool product, but it is a off-brand knock-off replacement. Secondly, before I installed it, I checked to make sure it worked using a continuity checker. At first, no matter what position I rotated the dial, it would not open the contacts which meant if I installed it, the refrigerator would continue to run. After rotating the dial multiple times both ways to the stops, it finally appeared that it would work. It has worked fine since installation, however the lowest dial position results in a 38° refrigerator temperature. Time will tell as to its longevity.
