Small PMR Radio - keep in touch up to a mile or so
2 of 2 found this helpful The Oregon TP329 is a nice little hand-held PMR radio with 14 channels each with 38 subchannels - a fair range of choices. I have had a couple for some years and needed a couple more which I got second hand through eBay. Handy for keeping in touch car-to-car or over a relatively short distance - do not expect a long range! The TP329 will fit easily into a pocket and is lightweight - although heavier than a mobile phone. And remember its all done by the radio - no cell phone links - so the power consumption is relatively high and the battery life (3 x AAA batteries per unit) not great - I would recommend using NiMH rechargeables and having a spare charged set with you if you're out for the day. And if someone else is on the same channel and sub-channel you've got no privacy - but there are 532 choices!
The TP329 has quite a complex menustructure, but you can probably set and forget; then its switch on, listen, and press to transmit. You can use a plug-in earphone, but I've never bothered. You can also use a voice activated function - e.g. for a baby alarm - but again I can't report on that having never used it. No instructions? - I lost mine years ago - you can download a copy off the net for free. Well worth a thought if you can cope with the menu and want a bit more chance of privacy than the normal 8 channel PMRs.
I almost forgot to mention the charging cradle for the radios - useful, but a full charge for NiMH cells can take up to 18 hours! Better to use a normal charger and just use the cradle for trickle top-ups.

Low light special
7 of 7 found this helpful This lens is an excellent partner for the Nikon D7200, complementing the camera's low light ability to reduce the need for the use of flash, and avoid killing the atmosphere at indoor and evening/night time events. Focusing is fast and precise on AF, without the gear graunching noises associated with earlier models. It will give a full range of features on any of the Nikon DSLR models, both DX and FX format, and represents a far more economical proposition than the f1.4 lens, with only a marginal loss of capability. Its 75mm equivalent focal length on DX vs FX also gives an excellent portrait lens with the ability to control depth of field to a nicety. It has become one of my favourite Nikon lenses.

Failed after less than 1 day
It is very difficult to review this phone - apparently for a basic mobile its features and capabilities matched my requirements well. However I had it for less than a day as it suffered a catastrophic failure and had to be returned. The plus side is that the customer service from the supplier was excellent, with no-cost return and instant refund. Being by now somewhat wary I replaced it with a Samsung GT E 1270, with a slightly larger screen and key pad, which is serving my needs well.
