Great software ruined by lousy copy protection scheme
What a shame. Namco decided to port over the various iterations of Pac Man, Dig Dug, Galaga, etc. to the PC. While the emulation is virtually perfect, Namco made a HUGE mistake: they contracted with an outside firm to do copy protection. While I understand and support the concept behind copy protection, it was carried out in such a poor manner that it basically ruined the experience. Out of utter frustration, I uninstalled the whole thing, and then spent another 2 hours trying to uninstall all the software that the copy protection system installed.
The games themselves were absolutely perfect. I was TRYING to do it on a laptop, which was not a good idea---Have you ever tried to play Pac Man using the four arrow keys? Let's just say UGLY and leave it at that! But the games were ported over perfectly.
Overall, I would NOT recommend this software, unless you are not bothered by overly intrusive software that installs drivers on your system.

Pretty darned good!
1 of 1 found this helpful As a true 'pinhead' , I can say that this is a pretty nice collection. the graphics are a *little* crude but definitely acceptable nonetheless. It's hard to capture the realism from software, but coupled with the Wii controller, they have done an admirable job. I personally have 4 REAL pinball machines to play, but I still enjoy firing up both PHOF titles (this one and the Williams one). They provide GREAT entertainment value! One last comment: If you are a true pinhead, do yourself a favor and make SURE to go to the real Pinball Hall of Fame in Las Vegas when you are out there. It is in one word AWESOME. Where else can you go and actually PLAY an old woodrail? Or rare pins (such as Big Bang Bar)? Nowhere! So by all means, get out there and check out the machines! Make sure to say hello to Tim or to the Hippie, who maintains the games. They really do a great job there!
