Great can opener!!
0 of 1 found this helpful I've had many electric can openers over the years, all of them with internal batteries. This makes the batteries difficult if not impossible to replace when their functional life comes to an end. Of course the intent of the manufacturers was - if the batteries go dead - throw the opener in the trash and go buy another opener. Such is not the case with the Tornado opener because it uses simple AA alkaline batteries which are intended to be readily available and easily replaceable. I don't know why people leave this opener a bad review, it is a powerful opener which functions perfectly if you understand how it works. Place the opener on the can at approximately the 11o'clock position (for a right handed individual). Push the button and allow the opener to rotate (counterclockwise). If you want the lid completely severed from the can, briefly push the button a second time as the opener comes back past the 11 o'clock position. The opener will back up slightly and release its grip on the lip of the can. If you want to leave the lid slightly "hinged" to the can, press the button for the second time as the opener reaches the 12 o'clock position rather than letting it get all the way back to the starting position of 11 o'clock.

Functions flawlessly!
I like this unit very much! It functions as presented by the manufacturer. I especially like the dusk-to-dawn feature, it's the first power supply I've owned with this feature that actually works.
