Poor Assembly of Speakers
3 of 3 found this helpful The quality of the Speaker Cans and Kicker "8 speakers are great. However, the assembly is very poor. They use low grade thin (probably 20 AWG) speaker wire to extend the speaker wire out of the port at the top of the can. Knowing the Kicker OEM is 18 or 16 AWG I would simply change out the wire. However, when I removed the speaker from the front of the can I saw that whoever did the assembly used a Liquid Nail product to seal the top port around the speaker wire and RGB wire making it impossible to ever change out the wire if a speaker should one ever go bad as the Liquid Nail is permanent seal. Someone should have use a pliable silicone product that could be removed and re-sealed if needed. One would have to actually re-drill the speaker wire holes in the top of the can and through the Liquid Nail to ever change out the RGB or speaker wire. Also, whoever did assembly should have at least used speaker wire that is equal in size to the OEM speaker wire (not smaller) as this will effect power performance to the speaker and use silicone that can be removed.
