Ross Carnivore 31 - A Shooter
I first bought a Ross Cardiac 33 and then graduated to a Carnivore 34 70# and loved it so much I took advantage of a great deal on the Carnivore 31 60#. I shoot Easton St Epics with several different vanes just to experiment, and I can literally get one inch 3-shot groups at 25 yards with either bow. The VaneTec 2.3" SS low profile vanes are awesome. Both are really smooth and quiet, offer plenty of speed, and most important, they are accurate. Pick a spot, execute consistently good releases and you will find yourself needing to pick different aimpoints so as not to ruin good arrows by spearing them with another. Also, I can often hear a "click" as one arrow sideswipes another. It's also a good thing that I do my own fletching or I'd be running to the pro shop every other day. Some complain that the Ross bows are heavy, but I find that helps me settle when aiming, and what wimp can't carry an extra pound or so for a few hours? Compared to gun hunting, bow hunting is light duty. Take a good look at the Ross bows, especially the Carnivore -- it seems that there's lots of confusion with the company, having been bought and sold, sold and bought back -- who knows what's going on there? But the product is great. I have to guess that Mr. Ross's talents lie more in bow design than business logistics, but who cares when he designs such great bows? There's a new one out there now too, called the Crave. Check it out -- might be even better. As for me, I can't shoot any better than with my Carnivores, so I'm happy right where I am -- so much so that I even bought 60# limbs for my Carnivore 34 to step down when I get older and just don't want to pull all that weight. Take a good look at Ross bows. I think you'll like what you see.
