Just opened a "time capsule"!!
Literally, a New In Box, 37 year old 35mm film camera with attachments!
Its functions are smooth and perfect. Fit and finish are excellant. All papers, manuals, warranty cards are crisp, clean, and unused - totally original.
The AE-1 Program model is a higher end version of the standard AE-1 35mm film camera. It has more options for fully automatic camera controlled flash, aperture, and timing settings. A great tool to almost guarantee great photos for a novice or even a more accomplished photographer. Mainly, its claim to fame was being a relatively inexpensive 35mm available to the masses of beginners and novices to photography.
This one also is a Commemorative Edition as an "Official 1984 Olympic Games" camera, with a lens cap noting that distinction.
Even better for me, the price was comparable to what such a camera would have cost in 1984.
I have an AE-1 I purchased new in 1978, retail was under $300. It still functions well, takes great photos.
I expect this newest purchase of the AE-1 Program camera will outlive me and still be a functioning camera as well as a "Collectors Item" in about 40 more years!
