Don't rule out UNI-T completely.
2 of 2 found this helpful I know that UNI-T is not considered high quality since it is Chineseum, but I have tested this device extensively and found it to be accurate, reliable, and of good build quality. I also have a UNI-T bluetooth anemometer and find it to be of equal quality and a great value for $25. Time will tell if they are durable, but the weight of this device seems to imply decent use of quality materials . I am so far very pleased with this device. I purchased it because it was the ONLY clamp meter which had all the features I was looking for: Capacitor measurement, Clamp current measurement in BOTH AC and DC, Temperature measurement via K-type thermocouple (included). Even the very expensive high end clamp meters don't have all three. They always seem to be missing one.
The only criticism I have is that the leads it comes with have very small length tips. The exposed metal part of the leads are only about 2-3 mm in length and come to a very sharp point. I find it difficult to tell if I am actually contacting the leads and back probing a connector is impossible. I may look into better leads, but the ends that plug into the meter itself are very long and look proprietary.
I am NOT an HVAC expert, but a experienced graduate level Mechanical Engineer who understands both the Thermodynamics and Technical aspects of the refrigeration cycle. I have worked on many car air conditioning systems. The components and refrigeration cycle are the same. Rather simple once you understand what is going on. Difference is that home A/C requires superheat and subcooling measurements in the typical range of 10 to 12F. Only way to measure this is with a gauge set and line temperature probes. I haven't gotten that far yet. I am using this device to monitor the health of my home central air system which is of 2004 vintage and R22. Just trying to extend its life as much as possible. Purchased the home in Jan. 2016, so this is its 3rd cooling season in which it has performed well.
I monitor the inrush and run currents of the compressor, condenser fan and blower motors. Also, I can check the capacitors for the these components as well.

Bit too expensive
Good quality. But, a bit too expensive,

Oldie but a goody.
Modern Water Pik shower massages are junk. This unit function just like my old one I had for 35 years. That's right 35. Finally, the plastic gave up after 35 years, so I needed a replacement. This did the trick. Functions exactly as advertised.
