great with liquid cooling
1 of 1 found this helpful I upgraded from a 3820 for the extra cores and PCIE3.0 support. Overclocked this bad boy to 4.1Ghz at 1.3v running 45c on full load with a Corsair H100i v2. Online it was said that you can get this CPU up to 4.5Ghz by turning voltage up to 1.5v but not to go past 1.5v or you may burn up your CPU. Sadly they stopped making CPU's for the LGA2011 socket so this is about as good as it gets unless you want to fork out a lot of extra money on a 4960k which is slightly better. As far as gaming goes there's no point in upgrading to this chip from another unless you have an LGA2011 motherboard with no CPU laying around. Video rendering and editing was a lot faster than the 3820 averaging 120fps with Handbrake. Overall I'd say go with the LGA1151 socket instead of the enthusiast LGA2011(v3) series.
