Ratchet restore
Had to disassemble to clean, remove rust, and refinish mechanism, but now it's in nice shape. Evapo-Rust, Oxpho-Blue, and Food Grade Mineral Oil works wonders on these things.

Having problems getting the magazine to latch in the pistol?
1 of 2 found this helpful The underside of the pistol slide has a "stripper rail" cast/formed into it. The purpose of this rail is to strip the cartridge from the magazine and push the cartridge into the camber as the slide moves forward into battery. When inserting a loaded magazine into ANY pistol with the slide already closed in the forward position, the top cartridge will be touching this "stripper rail" and that is why some of you are having trouble seating the magazine and getting it to latch. If you are unable to apply enough force to seat the magazine with the slide closed, lock the slide open, seat the magazine, then release the slide. Please do a better job of reading your instruction manuals for your firearms prior to attempting to use the firearm. As for the difficulty loading 8 rounds when the magazine is new, stop being in such a hurry. Load as many as you can, wait a day, then load until full. The spring of any quality magazine needs to be treated this way. It is not a defect. It is only operator error.
