Yamaha RX-V377 5.1 delivers, needs patience.
Took a risk to buy an almost new Yamaha amp from a Pawn shop in IL, mid September. It arrived a day early. It looked brand new, not a scratch or any sign of prior heavy use. Having a recording studio around my custom PC, I ignored the manual & hooked it up looking just at the pictorial pamphlet. Of course, no sound. Read the printed & online manual 3X ;-) & used the remote & onscreen menu on our 4K smart TV to program & set it up it correctly. It ain't easy & it is time consuming. It has to be done, though.
The amp has plenty of HDMI/SPDIF/RCA/Component I/Os. Once you set it up right, it works like a charm + smart & 'remembers' what goes with what. When watching old movies or listening to cable music, the Yamaha works w/ our vintage 30 y old 300 W stereo tower w/ 4" high 3-way speakers.
So, we have great natural 5.1/stereo sound. Especially BD discs w/ THX sound blew our mind & windows (almost). Our HDMI/SPDIF setup: 4K TV, cable box, HD DVD/CD player, BD player & a legacy DVD/CD/VHS combo player (via component). There you have it.
