Best Cornet sound of them all!
These are beautiful sounding cornets. HS is for Heavy Silver. Yes, the weight of this cornet is greater than most. It is also a large bore instrument. .464 if memory serves. I owned one of these, but had to sell it during the great recession. The 1st and 3rd slide tuning levers take a bit of getting used to, but this is the only negative that comes to mind. The intonation of the horn, as-is, is so great, that they don't get used very often. My current stable of horns includes a Taylor Flugel and a pair of Schilkes (B flat and C) so I am accustomed to fine brass. Get one if you can!

Best valve oil sold!
Used Al Cass Fast exclusively on my Schikle since the 70s. Started using a synthetic in my cars, was happy, so I thought I would give Herman a try. It is compatible with traditional so no risk. I highly recommend it. The Classic is perfect for an older horn. The valve slide oil is great also. Silky smooth movement. The best part, is that it does not dry out as quickly. Perfect for horns you may not play daily. Stays "wet" on my Taylor Flugel for weeks! My horns are worthy of the best. It does not make sense to skimp a couple of bucks on the oil....

This CD is, as I have since come to understand, all about soneros = vocal melodic oriented music. A wonderful change of pace from what is typically available. Vocals are emphasized. I dig it for what it is. You might also.
