Does Not File Poulan PP28DPT
If it fits your trimmer, then this is probably an OK replacement. It is not as heavy duty as the original on my Poulan Pro PP28DPT. And it DID NOT fit this trimmer as someone else had reported in the reviews I read. The PP28DPT has a 5/16" 24 TPI thread. There were 4 included inserts to adapt to various shafts, but none of these were the proper thread. I tried to use the stock insert, but the hex socket in the orange head unit was too small to accept the original. I tried using the black lower portion of this head on my stock head upper portion, but that did not fit either. I could not find an exact replacement locally but did find a Husqvarna brand head at Lowes that did work. However, the inserts included with that unit did not fit the Poulan either. I was able to use the threaded insert from the original in the Husqvarna head, although it also required the addition of a 5/8" washer to fit between the top of the head and the plastic nut on the end of the shaft. The stock insert protrudes above the head about 1/16-1/8" , and this gap has to be filled somehow in order to get a tight fit an operate the trimmer safely. My recommenation is buy the original Poulan head if you can find it. It was on Amazon at the time on my purchase, but shipping would not have arrived in time for my use due to COVID delays. It cost about twice ans much as this one, but worth it since that is the only way you can guarantee a fit and operate safely.
