quality British police drama

Typical British police drama, clever plots, engaging script writing, credible acting and entertaining without 'over the top' theatre of explosions and horror. Only one episode was a not absolutely up to the usual standard. This episode was more of a social drama than police drama, with romance being the key story line, even the main character, commander is more glam than police officer in this one episode. Great extra features the interviews with actress amanda and writer Lynda La plante.

Tense drama.

No light hearted drama. It is suspense from start to finish, as you don't know what is going to happen next and you question who is the bad, who is the good, the schemer, the cheat, the user. Right to the end you're not sure who to side with. The characters are complex but so real, the acting makes it so credible you feel what the characters are going through and therefore some episodes are stressful. This is not the Brady Bunch. Watching it I kept thinking, so glad I'm not married!
