Probably the best phone that you haven't heard of
0 of 1 found this helpful This phone is one of those that will be sadly overlooked by most people looking for a good smartphone, and yet it is quantifiably better than a 5amsung S8 and costs half as much. Having compared the two in my hands I really don't know why you would spend twice as much and get a phone that may be faster but has less of everything else.
The only real issue with this one is that the manufacturer does not support it outside its key markets in Asia. The UK is not included as a region on the Xiaomi global ROM on this phone. That's ok, it makes no practical difference to set it to the default (US region). Other than that, the phone is usable right out of the box with no tinkering required.. Google play etc. all there, instructions in English on the phone and in the manual in the box.
The phone itself is double sided with curved gorilla glass on front and back and looks and feels good in the hand. Display is bright enough and visible outside in direct sunlight. Sitting next to the S8 it looks a bit taller but not like there are any compromises in quality - it certainly doesn't look cheap. This phones 5.7in display is plenty big enough and high enough res for all practical purposes. Unlike phones that do away with bezels you won't be using up screen real estate for navigation buttons at the bottom.
Performance wise this is a fast phone. Antutu reports a score being 'faster than 99% of all smartphones'. My international version phone clocks a score of 152646 which not far off the OP 3T at 163578. The S7 edge is 132374 and the S8 tops 204000 (bigger the better!).
Downsides are: that this is a rare phone so your accessories and support will have to come from Asia, and it doesn't have wireless charging. The screen casting doesn't work well but that could just be my setup.
Upsides are: in terms of looks, interface, speed, display, battery life, rapid charging, dual sim, camera, audio, NFC, international coverage, this has to be one of the best phones out there right now and blows away the competition for value (May 2017). It feels like a flagship phone and it goes like one. This phone really is designed to be used internationally and you can see that from first power up, and it doesn't have all kinds of 'assistants' built in that you can't get rid of without rooting - now, that's a feature not to be underestimated!
