Failed after first use. Bad luck?

Copied files quite slowly. Seemed fine otherwise. Would not boot the second time I used it asking me to format it. Finally I did format it and copied all my files back onto it. Seemed fine for a few days. Now it won’t boot again and the same message to format is back. Is this just bad luck? I await to receive a replacement so I can find out.
