A better world to die in ....

The great Mr Cale (from Wales) is, we hope, to re-release the 3 albums from the Ze catalogue ; the first of the 3 Music ... is depressing, sad and gloomy. The arrangements are sparse and sometimes haunting, Chinese envoy is a perfect song, Close Watch has lost the strings (Cf the Helen of Troy version) yet remains cold & sad. This is not an album for rock fans who might prefer Slow Dazzle or Fear, it is good news for people who like Cale in his many hues & shades. The production is perfect.

One of the funniest books ever written ; a parody of British pub philosophy devised by one of the greatest comedy duo ever to grace stage or screen ... Alf Garnett was true to life, you can find him in the pub 'round the corner, Pete & Dud are Alf muliplied by puns, quibbles and a love for the very autonomy of the absurd.

BEST OF BRITISH

Doll's House remains an unbeatable first album ... Saxophones violins and Nicky Hopkins on keybourds & mellotron ... Fearless & Bandstand are two other high points in a colourful career. Fearless is the softer of the two in the tradition of mellowing grey from the 1 st album. Second cd is in my own time which fans already have I'd guees. Morning noon and night a great record. Top class production too !
