Smooth, warm, great headphones
0 of 1 found this helpful purchased these "used", but I cannot tell that they have been. I'm guessing they were display models. This is my second pair of planer style open back headphones. My originals were Grado and though they sounded good, they don't compare to the Hifiman HE-400S. I broke these in by playing sound non-stop for a couple of days. The bass is realistic and smooth. The mids are outstanding and the highs are crisp, but not shrill. They are incredibly comfortable and I believe I could leave them on for hours. So far, I've only listened to them through a mid quality Yamaha receiver using Audirvana and lossless music so I don't actually know what they'll sound like with a portable player and compressed music. They are also very sturdy and clearly high quality. Headphones are kind of a personal choice purchase and I am very happy with these. I highly recommend them.
