Beige linen Orvis pants with adjustable waist cord and pockets
Wore these for the first time yesterday with a brown long-sleeved t-shirt. They are comfortable to wear, loose and cool. The linen is a bit coarser than I like, but for the price, the color, style, etc., is good. I bought the striped ones also, which are a finer linen, but they need to be shortened before I can wear them. Overall, a good wardrobe piece for these excruciating summers!

The Dragon Scroll by I.J. Parker
One of the best mystery series currently being written! I.J. Parker is a retired English professor, a German married to an American. Her research and writing are top notch. The series is set in Heian Japan, think Tale of Genji by Lady Murasaki, the first novel. The characters are well developed, plots intricate and suspenseful, just good mystery writing. Descriptive writing of gardens, buildings, fortifications, and weather is all good. Clothing and foods are described in detail. Government organization, languages, music and poetry are all featured. These books are fun and very educational, but not in a way that is overtly didactic.

Excellent mystery series!
Excellent mystery series with Sir Derek Jacobi and fine supporting cast. Both the books and the TV programs are good. I had missed them when they first came out and am really enjoying catching up now. Set in the twelfth century and filmed in Hungary, they portray this medieval period well.
