discs at top of the spindle were scratched a number of discs would not burn correctly

discs at top of the spindle were scratched along the outside edge..first 7 dvds. so far, in using a little less than half of the disc on spindle...had errors in burning process in about 10 more discs.. In the past I have never had a problem with sony discs or this particular name or packaging of them..
