The best yet of the Eve Duncan thrillers...
Stalemate by Iris Johansen is the best yet of this series, starring forensic sculptor Eve Duncan. She and her love Joe Quinn journey to South America so she can help a mysterious arms dealer, Montalvo, bring closure to the death of his wife Nalia. She was murdered by drug lord Luis Garcia. Joe is wounded early in this story and Eve then does her work and his! She helps Montalvo plan the attack on Garcia and actively takes part in his downfall, all in an attempt to finish her work and to get Joe to safety. The lure that takes her to South America in the first place is Montalvo's promise to help her find the body of her daughter Bonnie who had disappeared years ago. Eve understands Montalvo's need for closure because that is what she needs with her daughter. This book ends nicely, tying up all the loose ends of this particular story but leaving us waiting with bated breath for the next book, where we know that Eve and Montalvo will search for and hopefully find out what happened to Bonnie. We are also teased somewhat with the attraction between Eve and Montalvo. I am sure that there will be closure about Bonnie in this next installment but will Eve be with Quinn or Montalvo at its end?

An Early Anne Stuart
I am a big fan of Anne Sturat's books, especially her "Ice" series, a combination of romance and black ops adventures. This book, "Housebound" is an early work, truly a romance although there is at least one aspect other than romance in the story-line. Four family members own the crumbling family estate, and our heroine is the one devoted to keeping it repaired and in livable condition. The others want to sell; hence the introduction of our Hero, Noah, ostensibly visiting as a suitor of her younger sister but in reality a person involved in the impending sale of her beloved house.
The Obsessions of Lord Godfrey Cavanaugh (Paperback or Softback)
Feb 24, 2021
Lord Godfrey, a minor character in previous books, now faces his life and previous "obsessions".
Stephanie Laurens is a favorite author of mine and this is an excellent example why. Historically detailed with well drawn and interesting characters who connect with each other in a believable manner, this is the 4th and final in a series. ENJOY!
