Pure Audio Bliss!
The Audeze LCD-X is the best headphone I have ever heard. Below is a list of the headphones I have either owned or auditioned.
Headphones (Currently Own): Phillips SHP-9500; Monoprice Monolith M1060, M1060C; Audeze LCD-X
Headphones (Previously Owned): Superlux HD668B w/CosmoPads; Sennheiser ATH-AD700X; Monoprice Monolith M300, M560; HiFiMAN HE-400i; Fostex T60RP
Headphones (Auditioned): Sennheiser HD650
The LCD-X beats all of these hands down. Which you would expect with how much it costs. Build is premium. Sound signature is balanced/mostly flat without being boring. Bass impact is great. Vocals are clear and present. No Highs are resolving and controlled. Easy to drive. Can power it off a phone, but will get next level results with just about any amp.
There are only 2 negatives in my opinion that keep this headphone from being perfect; the weight and the price.
These are noticeably heavy on the head and are the heaviest headphones I've ever tried. Don't bend over with these or they will fall off your head. Because of the weight they can be fatiguing to wear for long listening sessions.
Audio equipment, just like anything else, suffers from the problem of diminishing returns and the LCD-X definitely fall into that category. While these are without a doubt the best headphones I have ever tried/owned, in my opinion they are only about 20% better than the Monoprice Monolith M1060/C when it comes to sound and cost 4-5 times as much.
However, if you want the best of the best without having to deal with the craziness that is electrostatics; the Audeze LCD-X is a clear winner.
