Worked fine with Linux Mint 18
2 of 2 found this helpful I bought a couple of these to replace a failed on-board Ethernet in an HP 8300.
It worked fine with no effort. Plugged it in and it worked.
Turned out that the problem was with a Linux kernel update not the motherboard,
and after a couple more updates the on-board Ethernet started working again.
I speed tested this card using iperf against the on-board Ethernet adapters in the
HP machine and in a couple of Genuine Intel motherboards. Speed was the same.
I also tested it with assorted Linksys, Tp-link, Netgear, and Cisco switches and routers.
I got 937 to 939Mb throughput in all tested configurations.
If you are old (like me) seeing a $4.00 2 inch x 3 inch card with a single ¼ inch chip
that is one hundred time faster than what was once a full size card with dozens of
components and cost a couple hundred dollars is amazing.

Firmware update is very important.
1 of 1 found this helpful Update the firmware to latest version if you want it to go fast.
Without update it is slow.
25Mb download before update 100Mb+ download after update
That is as fast as my internet connection can go.
Other reviews say it can go much faster.

Very heavy duty and strong
I liked it so much that I bought another one.
I can move a 48 inch 25 pound Samsung TV side to side with one finger.
I live in an 80+ year old house with wood lath and plaster walls,
so I used longer mounting screws than the ones supplied.
