If you can buy 2
2 of 2 found this helpful this does exactly what you expect it to do. it takes a higher voltage to a lesser voltage. this is handy for say running an LED where you might not want to overpower it, feed it 12V and have full control over brightness with either current or voltage limiting or both. I got it mostly as a bench power supply type set up and plan to use it with a 32V 2A old printer power supply, but if I use a 12v battery then it limits the ability to go beyond 12V and possibly frying something. I kept the screw terminals open and soldered on some short wires going to "M" 5.2mm connectors as a standard across a lot of things lately, this is quite handy as it allows me to bounce around to different things. I even have a set of alligator clips to break in and out. it is nice and self-contained within its plastic case and my only complaint is that you should be gentle around the LCD screen. when I get the opportunity I won't hesitate at getting a 2nd one. I was able to draw 2 to 3 A without it heating up.and all the functions work very intuitively. the blue back light is not annoyingly blue or bright to me, I was able to leave it on at night and it didn't bother me while I tried to sleep.

I have been looking for this for 10 years
I'm annoyed when people use 1/4" to 1/8" adapters and then shove them into their iPad, iPod, iPhone, computer. what do you expect is going to happen, you got this giant three-inch adapter with heavy cable sticking out acting as a fulcrum waiting to break your expensive gadget. you might have an issue with the 1/8" fitting into your case but at least you will have a slight break between the heavy cable and your device.

Good quality
1 of 1 found this helpful it was a little bit louder than expected, I might have to throw a resistor in my circuit. i am using it as an external laptop cooler, and it is noticeable from across the room but not too bad.
