Fantastic intermediate priced soprano that has very rich pure sound.
Review for Yamaha 475II........I have a selmer mark VII tenor and an intermediate alto and a student line soprano. I Play the soprano the most for the last 14 years and felt like it was time to move to professional or intermediate soprano. I researched extensively and felt like $3500 was too much for me to spend.
I wanted to get a Yanagisawa but that price difference almost made me not get a new soprano.
So I kept looking the Mauriat looked good and had pretty good reviews. Then I saw a Yamaha 475 II review. I was impressed with the sound and the proffessional sax player thought it was excellent.
So after much deliberation I pulled the trigger on the Intermediate Yamaha 475II and It is way better than the student line Unison brand I had. It played fantastic. It has a rich tone that is even through out the range. The low note response is better than anything i have ever played, (even the Yanagisawa i played locally. The room they had me in had very very bad acoustics.) free shipping. They shipped as soon as i put my card in and excellent price. Con: The yamaha 4* was ok but I have an Axiem from soprano planet that works fantastic on this horn. The price was a lot lower and I feel this horn plays as good as most professional.
The Yamaha z86 is the professional soprano from reviews they are very similar with less scrolling detail on the 457II.
