Great product let down by inadequate screws.

The actual gate closer is a strong, robust well made item that is clearly going to last a long time. Often these sorts of products are a bit of a sod to fix, but this was a dream. Measuring up and making the pilot holes was literally a matter of five minutes and the only tools I needed were a spirit level and the instructions. The screw it in place and the adjustment took five minutes. The one area that disappoints is that the screw are short and wholly inadequate for the strain that they will be under. They may be sufficient in a hard wood post but I doubt it. In a softwood, they were coming loose on just a half dozen open/closes of the gate. I replaced them with screw that were more than twice the length and thicker and all is well. For the minor cost of 2-3 different sizes of screws, it would be much better. I have a large screw collection to select from but it would have been annoying otherwise. Overall, I thoroughly recommend this gate closer, just get some extra screws! Product good, instructions good.
