Donner Black Devil
Bought to use as a d.i. preamp while writing music in my DAW with ezdrummer2, as I don't like VST's and I don't want to turn on one of my tube amps just to write. It works well enough for d.i. playback but where this thing really shines is through the fx loop of my Carvin V3. Sounds scary similar to a 5150/6505. Is it dead-on EVH tone? No, but it still sounds killer. It does not sound as good though my gen 1 Krankenstein fx loop but that's fine by me because it gives some super tasty, articulate metal tones from my V3. It's almost like I have another amp added to my arsenal. All in all, it's a fun little toy and if you use the right way, it'll give you more tone options than you can toss a beer bottle at. 🤘🍻🤘

This little preamp pedal is amaze-balls. It sounds decent d.i. into my recording interface but where this puppy shines is through the fx loop on both my Carvin V3 with JJ E34L's and my gen 1 Krank Krankenstein with Sovtek 5881's. Super tight, girthy lows, punchy mids, smooth crisp highs and gain for days. It's almost like I have 4 different amps to choose from in my studio now. The clean channel is fantastic as well. Anything and everything from buttery warmth to chimey crystalline tones. I'm so glad I pulled the trigger on this pedal. I plan on picking up a few more of these Mooer preamp pedals in the near future.
