The speaker on old iPads stinks. This helps a lot!
The worst part of older iPads is that compared to newer versions the rear speaker placement and resulting audio output is weak and horrible. Using this speaker case corrects that old design flaw by having ported user facing speakers.
The down side is the case adds weight and some bulk. It’s not nearly as slim and relatively light as newer iPads. However you can’t beat the cost of this plus an old iPad vs the cost of a new iPad.
One minor issue encountered twice is that sometimes the iPad doesn’t charge while the speaker is being charged (it’s supposed to) Restarting the iPad has fixed this both times.
