Excellent for People of Faith and Scholars Alike

Amidst the many positives relating to the translation, I found the introduction section to be an excellent review of the state of scholarship relating Mark and to be written in a manner that both an initiate and a scholar would find informative. I appreciate it when a writer uses questions to indicate areas that people of faith might and scholars with particular slants might take exception and close their minds to the larger picture.

Scholarly and Religious Work for Full Range of Readers

The introduction tells you more than most other books about the important aspects of the gospel, current thinking about the author, location, sources, etc. The juxtaposition of the English translation to the Greek on the page, the footnotes, and the appendices make it valuable for the moderately informed as well as the scholars.
