Great for the money
0 of 1 found this helpful A few minor scratches on the outside but it doesn't take much away from this great laptop. Nice hardware specs for the price. Well-built, solid frame. I opened it up to replace the stock keyboard with a back-lit one and was pleasantly surprised to see that they'd cleaned out the CPU fan as well. I ended up with a battery that still holds about a 60-65% charge so I consider myself lucky. The i5 processor and the 8 gigs of RAM can handle all the applications of the average/business user. I often listen to YouTube videos in the background while working on a dozen tabs and a couple desktop programs and this laptop just keeps asking for more. It does run a bit warm for my taste at higher load but it's within "normal" range and generally cooler than it's higher wattage i7 cousins. I certainly haven't needed a lap desk yet. Overall I highly recommend it for the money.

It's okay
Arrived in two large packages with some of the (pressed) wood pieces smashed in, damaged and cracked. Very poor quality machining and workmanship. They ask you to literally GLUE some pieces together so that they don't fall apart. I've put together a lot of furniture over the years but this item by far had the worst directions. It comes with a sheet of stickers/letters and they ask YOU to put them on the various parts so that you can identify them. The "guide" is 4 tiny pages with illustrations. No text, no actual directions. If you're not experienced, you'll spend a lot of time trying to decode it. You'll need a hammer, a Phillips screwdriver and ideally a second person to put this thing together. It'll probably get your student through a couple grades but don't expect it to last a long time.

You can do better!
1 of 2 found this helpful Cheap and low profile but comfortable only during the first 1-2 minutes that they actually stay in your ears. If you're planning on using these with your MP3 player while working out, don't! They constantly come off regardless of which earpiece size you use. Memory wire is a joke. Noise cancellation is lousy at best. The sound quality is 'okay' for the low price but only if you can keep them in your ears. Hands downs one of the worst earphones I've owned.
