Love this camera.
2 of 2 found this helpful Picture color is much better than the canon. It has a nice zoom, I like the setting where you can add a little extra digital zoom without getting too much. Image stabilization is excellent in most cases, however panning very fast or in fast circles it has some problems. Overall it's an excellent camcorder.

Extreme comfort!
Hoka One One Bondi 7 shoes are like waking in marshmallows. Highly recommend for people that are on their feet all day.

Beware of auto focus problems...
1 of 2 found this helpful Sony does have a firmware update on their site that deals with the slow auto focus problem with this camcorder. I updated my FDR-AX53 and it did help some, but the auto focus still has issues. After the update, it's still very slow to focus at distances, but it's better at the 10' to 15' range that it was before the firmware update. I also own an FDR-AX33 and I never had any issues with the auto focus. I mostly use manual focus so it's not a huge issue for me. The image stabilization is the best yet, I just wish the image was sharper at full zoom.
