Killer CD
5 of 5 found this helpful There is not a bad cut on this CD.
This CD will show you why the Allman Brothers were the gold standard that all other southern rock bands were measured against. What I found interesting was the Allman Brothers thought of themselves as a jazz band. You can definitely hear the jazz and progressive nature of their music on A Decade of Hits. I found it very hard to label the band after listening to this CD. It was much easier to enjoy the CD than analyze the music.
I am not a devotee of the Allman Brothers or southern rock, but I loved this CD from the first cut to the last.

I can't stop playing 40 Year Celebration - Chieftains
First off let me state, I am a Celtic music fan. I like the Chieftains but I have no Cheiftains' CDs in my collection. I was going through the bargain bin on half.com and saw this CD. It has turned out to be, one of my best pick ups ever. I have had the CD for about two months and cannot take it out. It goes from car to work, back into car everyday.
There are no bad cuts, only ones I like more than others. My top three are:
The Magdalene Laundries with Joni Mitchell - depressing movie but thought provoking lyrics
Redemption Song - Ziggy Marley - last cut on CD, outstanding version, you just can wait till the CD starts again
Cotton-Eyed Joe with Ricky Skaggs - no way you can stay still listening to this cut, you can tell that they had a blast recording it.
A telling compliment to this CD is that there are songs/cuts you love, and you don't fast-forward/skip to them, because all the cuts are excellent.
I am not a snooty music critic, just a guy that likes good music, and this in my opinion, is an outstanding CD. Hope you will give it a listen and enjoy it like I have.

Weak and disappointing
1 of 1 found this helpful I love frank Sinatra but this CD is definitely not one of his best. You can hear that he is well past his prime.
In my opinion, the only reason they made this CD was to bilk the loyal fans out of $20. Frank's partners on the CD are fine, but none of us bought it to hear them.
You would be better served and much happier finding an earlier in his career CD and listening to it. I am not a snooty music critic, just a guy that likes good music, and this CD missing the mark.
